Why did you choose this book?

I chose “Pet Sematary” because I read many books by Stephen King (“Mizery”, “It”, “Shining”, “Creepshow” and so on), and I expected a lot from this one. I find his books fascinating because of their unpredictable plot and characters which seem to be real.

How do you find it so far?

This book is very sad and tragic that’s why not everyone is recommended to read it. If you like when the characters are suffering you could read “Pet Sematary”. As for me, I can’t stand “happy ends” but even though I consider this book not the best horror story.

Does it match you expectations? Why?

Frankly speaking, the book managed to aghast me by some episodes where the author showed the violent reality of the world and I really sympathized the characters. I’ll say : “Yes, it does.”. To be objective, this horror story is really worthy to read.

Quote

Cats were the gangsters of the animal world, living outside the law and often dying there. There were a great many of them who never grew old by the fire. (Stephen King)

I have found the quote important because the author showed a cruel reality of this world using this words. On the one hand, Stephen King said about cats, describing their lives in a violence, on the other hand the author talked deeply about cats’ psychology. In my opinion, he meant that life is the hardest trial so even cats try to survive as they can saving their own lives. It does not mean that these animals are selfish, in my book, this quote means cats’ aspiration for surviving. The context where this quote was used is in the beginning of the book. We can see it during the dialog between Ellie and Louis. It happened after the family had visited the Pet Cemetery. Ellie came up to her father because she was impressed by the pet cemetery and thought about death for the first time. Also, she was afraid of Church’s death(her cat), because she knew that eventually he died one day. To conclude, I’d like to say that every alive creature is struggling for a life, but everyone has his own way.
