When reading texts about politics for our home assignments, I oftentimes see some words from GRE or SAT, and it engenders motivation to learn more. Although I try to set aside some time to practice advanced words from GRE once in a while, I completely forget to post them here. However, it’s never late to jump right in. Here are my favorites:

Denigrate

  1. to attack the reputation of. SYN: defame

denigrate one’s opponents

2)to deny the importance or validity of. SYN: belittle, diminish, deprecate

denigrate their achievements

Confound

to throw (a person) into confusion or perplexity tactics. SYN: bewilder, dumbfound, perplex, bemuse.

to confound the enemy

Attenuate

to lessen the amount, force, magnitude, or value of. SYN: weaken, enervate

attenuate the impact of awkward facts
