What Every American Should Know
Sep 26, 2021
When learning a foreign language, you indulge in the culture of the country and find out more about its history. As a student of an American program, I was glad to check how well I’m familiar with the most important things about the U.S. Visiting the website of the project called “What Every American Should Know”, I jotted down things I know, and spotted the areas which I have no clue about.
Here is the list of the things I’m familiar with:
- September 11th
- Declaration of Independence
- Democracy
- US Civil War
- Holocaust
- Gun violence in the U.S.
- Martin Luther King, Jr. and Rosa Parks
- Bill of Rights
- The Great Depression
- Gettysburg Address
- Cold War
- BLM
- Pledge of Allegiance
- The National Anthem
